NYCH’s training and development activities encourage newcomers to build on their leadership skills, experience and confidence to achieve their goals and find meaningful employment. These activities include training to become a group facilitator, peer leader or settlement support person, all of which include a practicum placement. NYCH also provides one-on-one support for participants to develop their awareness around community resources, and practice the skills they have learned in a safe, supportive environment.
In completing these training programs, participants develop vital connections and supports that encourage them to be active in Canadian society. Training and Development acitivities enable newcomers to bring strength and leadership to their neighbourhoods, and help create more welcoming communities.
