Financial Literacy

Many newcomers to Canada arrive with few resources, and also face the challenge of finding employment.  This creates a huge financial burden and a great deal of stress for newcomer families. The financial literacy project at NYCH works with newcomer women to learn about managing debt and savings, day-to-day budgeting, investing and other important financial skills so that over time they can increase their financial security for themselves and their families.

NYCH also provides financial literacy training to newcomers so they have the knowledge and resources to support their peers.

Workshops are offered in such topics as: budgeting, credit cards and credit bureaus, fraud, identity theft, consumer rights, income taxes, savings & investment, financial planning and government subsidies.
